THOROUGH EXAMINATION

HD Forklift Services are accredited to provide the necessary Thorough Examination for your forklift truck.

A Thorough Examination is a legal requirement

Thorough Examination for forklift trucks is the equivalent to the MOT for cars – a mandatory check to ensure that the mechanical parts of your forklift are in safe working order.

It is not the same as a regular maintenance

As this is different from regular maintenance you need one whether or not your truck has just been serviced. This is how the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines Thorough Examination:

Thorough examination of industrial lift trucks is required under health and safety law: LOLER 1998, which covers lifting equipment, and PUWER 1998, which deals with all other safety-related items, such as brakes, steering and tyres. Your regular inspections as part of a preventive maintenance scheme or scheduled service are not a thorough examination.

Thorough Examination is required by law, and must take place at regular intervals that depend on the type of truck you’re running… but it will almost certainly be at least once a year.

HD Forklift Services are accredited by the Consolidated Fork Truck Services Ltd (CFTS), which is a joint venture owned and operated by The Forklift Truck Association and the British Industrial Truck Association. Working together with the Health & Safety Executive, the CFTS Forklift Thorough Examination is now considered the quality-benchmark test for the industry.
